Have you ever wondered how some entrepreneurs seem to be everywhere all the time? Like they must be creating content in their freaking sleep with how much you see them. They’ve got content out the ass on every single platform. How do they do it?

Here’s how & it’s one of my secrets to creating a TON of content quickly : Use one big piece of content to create ALL of your content. It’s a work smarter, not harder type of content strategy that allows you to create social content, group posts, story topics, live topics & more, all from one big piece of content.

A perfect way to start doing this is with a blog! It’s the perfect big, meaty piece of content that you can easily break down into smaller bits, when written correctly. You can turn one value-packed blog post into:

  • A week of social media posts

  • 3 live topics

  • 4 group posts

  • 4 story topics

  • 10 pinterest pins (leading back to your blog)

Not all blog posts are created equally though. Your blog needs to be structured in a way that allows you to easily (and quickly) break out these pieces! So how do you structure your blog to do that? Allow me to explain!

STEP 1: BROAD(ISH) TOPIC

When thinking of what to write a blog post on, keep it a bit of a broad topic. Something that you can break down into 3 or 4 subtopics for further explanation.(remember, I said this was going to be meaty). Think along the lines of: 3 ideas to xyz, five mistakes to avoid xyz, or even a topic such as How to write your blog posts in a way to break them down and repurpose them later (hmm… see what I did there). You can still get specific, like I”m doing with this blog post (ex: I’m not writing as broad as “why you need to blog”. I’m still getting specific on “how to write your blog specifically with the intention of breaking it down into smaller pieces of content”, BUT notice how so far in this blog, I haven’t listed out really tiny steps like, 1. Pick a topic, 2. Outline , etc. ). When you are picking a topic, keep in mind the fact that you WILL be breaking this down, so make sure it’s something that isn’t too specific that you can’t break it down any further.

STEP 2: 3-4 PARAGRAPHS OF POINTS

Now, we get to actually writing the post after picking our topic. This is a big key in being able to easily & quickly repurpose this blog into smaller pieces of content. We’re going to write 3-4 paragraphs on sub topics of this blog post. So take this post for example. I chose the topic of “how to write your blog so you can break it down into smaller pieces of content”. Then I wrote 3 paragraphs about sub-topics under that main category, like picking your blog topic, the structure of the paragraphs, and how to repurpose it when you’re done. Those aren’t little steps or tasks, those are 3 subtopics I can (clearly) write meaty paragraphs about. THAT is key. THAT is what is going to allow us to repurpose this in the next step.

Here’s another example: Let’s say you’re writing a blog post about 3 reasons you need to book a fall family portrait session. Paragraph 1 could talk in depth about how your kids will appreciate these family heirlooms when they’re older. Paragraph 2 could talk about how you can use the images to personalize your home decor with custom gallery walls or canvas displays. Paragraph 3 could talk about doing it for yourself to capture the growth of your family over the years and creating memories in the process. All three of those are subtopics you could easily write hearty paragraphs about while still keeping your blog post pretty specific about 3 reasons you need to book that fall family portrait session.

STEP3 : REPURPOSE

Now that you’ve written your blog post, you get to repurpose it into the smaller pieces of content. & you’re going to do that by breaking out those meaty paragraphs we just wrote into their own smaller pieces of content. & that’s why these subtopic paragraphs needed to be so value-packed to begin with. Because they’re now each going to become their own social media post, live topic, story topic, etc. If you wrote 3 subtopic paragraphs, you now have 3 social posts (you can also use your blog intro as a 4th). You also have 3 topics to do more in-depth live videos or story content on. You have tons of little blurbs you could pull from the blog to create quote graphics on social or create TONS of pinterest pins to lead people back to your blog. You can even take each of those subtopics and turn them into their own email to your list so you can nurture them even more! Now let’s look at this blog post again as an example to see what I would do with it…

So looking at my blog post you’re reading now here’s what I’d do:

  • Post 1: use the intro paragraph to introduce the topic on social media and lead them to my blog (that list of content to create from 1 blog post would be a killer social post just on it’s own)

  • Post 2: break the first subtopic into its own post explaining why picking a broad(ish) topic is helpful to save time while creating your content

  • Post 3: break the second subtopic into its own post by sharing an example of how to structure a blog post to be broken down into more content

  • Post 4:  break the third subtopic into its own post by sharing the list of different smaller pieces of content someone could create from ONE blog post

  • 4 live videos or IGTVs on each of those above posts

  • 4 days of story content leading back to those same 4 posts

  • 1 email with the intro paragraph to introduce the topic to my list and provide them with a link to read the full blog

  • 3 nurturing emails to my list with the info from each subtopic to really provide them with value and warm them up

You see why I love this blog post structure? It allows me to create SO MUCH valuable content from one batch of work. It makes my life easy, saves me so much time, and allows me to serve the hell out of my audience, better than if I was creating all of these pieces of content separate from one another (trust me, I did that for years and got SUPER burnt out.)

Okay now it’s your turn to give this a try! Go plan out your next blog post using this structure and see just how much content you can really squeeze out of it! & If you’re still confused on how this can work for your business or you just  need to talk to a marketing strategist & figure out the best way to grow YOUR specific business online, then let's do that on a free strategy call!
