Why Content Creation Is The Key To My Business

Have you ever wondered what other entrepreneurs would say is the most valuable thing they ever learned or what their secret was to getting the results they wanted? I know that was me for YEARS - talking to every business owner and boss babe I could who had the successful results I dreamed of. Their answers were always good, but not what I wanted to know. I heard a lot of “great mentors & coaches”, “staying debt free”... the list goes on. All great advice that I agree with when it comes to running my business, but I wanted to know how they got their results and success when it came to growing their business and converting followers into paying clients. Finally after years of asking with no answer, and A LOT of trial and error on my part, I’ve finally figured it out. The method of growing my business and attracting paying customers who love me, without feeling like a sleazy car salesman.

The key to growing and marketing my business? Content creation

Yepp, that’s right. Content creation. Creating valuable content on social media platforms, emails, blogs, videos - that has been the key to growing my business in a way that worked for ME. Curious as to why?  Here’s five reasons why I love content creation as my marketing method…

serve 24/7

One of the many reasons I love content creation - it allows me to serve my audience on a global scale 24/7. I’m no longer limited by the hours I sit at my desk or the amount of time I have. The content I create is evergreen, meaning it lives on the internet forever, and it can be accessed literally any day, any time. This is perfect for serving my audience when the time works for THEIR schedule.

A perfect example is when I used to only do live trainings. I would go live at 1pm eastern, which worked for my schedule, but for others in different time zones or with different schedules, they would always miss my trainings. When I turned those trainings into evergreen content on a blog or youtube video, now my audience can watch them when it works best for them. Sara can now watch it at 8am while she drinks her morning coffee, and Maria can watch it at midnight when she's working late at night.

save more of my time

As a solopreneur, my schedule is full with doing all the things. I do not have time to do anything else.So you’d think adding on the method of content creation would just put more things on my schedule. To my surprise, it ended up saving me time on a lot of things I was trying to do anyway. Content creation lends itself to batching SO well, aka doing similar tasks within the same time block.

In case you aren’t familiar with batching - this is where you do similar tasks all at one time instead of bouncing around. A perfect example of this is posting on social media. Normally you would think of what to post, find a picture, write your caption, and post it, repeating that sequence once or twice a day. With batching, you would do more at once, like planning out a month of content instead of a day. This allows you to get into a flow state and focus, instead of bouncing around to planning, finding a picture, writing a caption. By doing all of the same tasks at once (planning all at once, pictures all at once, captions all at once, etc), you are able to focus more and get more done, thereby saving you time. Don’t believe me? Check out this blog post where I break down just how much time you’re wasting by not batching your social media content [READ IT HERE]

Whether it’s social media, blogging, email, or any other part of my content creation strategy - it can all be done by batching in advance, which ends up saving me over 20 hours every month!

matches my personality

Where are my fellow introverts? This one's for you! I’ve tried so many ways to market my business over the years, and most of them led to me feeling burnt out and drained of my energy. Why? Because those methods didn’t fit my personality. I’m an introvert through and through, so those other methods of in person networking, or word of mouth marketing, while they can be effective, totally flopped for me. They didn’t help me grow and they made me feel even more drained than when I started, because they gave me no room to be an introvert and recharge on my own. Content creation, though…. *sigh of relief*... it just makes my introverted soul beam.

Content creation allows me to serve my audience and give them the info they need without being physically present or in front of them at all. I can get them the same info and value without having to go to networking mixers or book a bunch of sales calls, all from the comfort of my own home while staying in my pjs. This is my introverted dream!

bigger reach

If you’re sick of algorithms and only a handful of your followers being able to connect with you - then listen up, this one is made for you. Another reason I love content creation so much is because it allows me to expand my reach by being able to post on multiple different platforms WITHOUT ANY EXTRA WORK. Sound too good to be true? Well it’s not - here’s how it works for me…

I record a podcast. I turn that podcast’s topic into one to three blog posts. I turn those blog posts into video trainings & LIVE video topics. I turn those video topics emails. I turn those emails into social posts. I turn those social posts into stories. AND I can turn any or all of those pieces of content into ads.

These various pieces of content then all get pushed out to different platforms: podcasting platforms, my blog, my email list, social media, pinterest, youtube - I’m literally everywhere at once without losing my mind creating a million different things. I can reach more people and help even more entrepreneurs, knowing that I’m not limited by one algorithm or one platform. It all stems back to one big piece of content.

work on autopilot

One last reason I’ll leave you with as to why I love content creation is that it lets a lot of my business run on autopilot. Yepp, I am nurturing my audience, converting followers, making money, and serving my paying clients on autopilot. How? Because of being able to create and schedule all of this content in advance. I create it once, schedule it once and then because it lives on the interwebs forever, I can repeatedly use it to lead people through my sales funnel.

My audience can find a blog post or a social post that leads to my freebie, instantly download that, get added to my email list, get sent a nurture series, purchase an online course, and then have me walk them through the course modules weekly - all on their own time and their own schedule, without me having to lift a finger. I create all that content one time, and implement some tech to use that content repeatedly for every person who goes through my funnel, running automatically in the background. So while I’m laying by the pool, taking a nap, or grabbing coffee with a friend, my followers and clients are being completely taken care of and getting all the info and help they need, when it works best for them

And these are just 5 reasons I love content creation, but they’re not the only reasons! There are so many more reasons to love content creation, but you’ll just have to give it a try for yourself and see how much you love it!
